A WALKING TOUR OF TREMONT STREET, BOSTON

From the little town of Boston, Massachusetts lies an ultimate destination for commercial, cultural, and educational events, Tremont Street. This humble neighborhood is one of the favorite destinations to stay and visit among locals and tourists because of its magnificent location, at the heart of Boston’s geographical center, where countless cultural and commercial centers are constructed. And with Tremont Street’s upcoming huge commercial development, the Tremont Crossing, this might just be everyone’s favorite go-to spot for leisure and casual get together with friends! Another perk? This little area also boasts Boston’s infamous skyline and harbor.

 Since the Tremont Street is in the middle of Boston, commuting to the center is not really that hard. It is accessible by different subway stations such as Ruggle’s Station and MBTA Orange Line. Apart from riding the subway, it can also be accessed by bus, car, bicycle, or even walking!

With all that being said, why don’t we start our walking tour of Tremont Street? Shall we? 😊

 

Culture

The vast culture of Boston, Massachusetts is highly reflected in the attractions that lie along Tremont Street.

Let’s start the tour from the Government Center where all legal businesses are done. Boston’s City Hall greets you with elegance and pride with its unique architectural structure and brutalist design where contemporary style in bare concrete blends perfectly together.

Apart from the City Hall, there are also different churches in the area that one can visit. Known as the Stone Chapel, the King’s Chapel is one of the independent Christian congregation that is recognized for its colonial architectural design. It was even recognized as a National Historic Landmark for its architectural implication. It surely is worth a visit.

 We can also visit and feel how ancient freemasonry is in the Masonic Grand Lodge which is known to the third oldest Masonic Temple in the world. So, if you know someone who is a freemason, get some snap in front of the temple and show to them your photo!

Apart from Halls and Temples, The Tremont Street also offers great awareness in the field of performing arts, particularly theatre arts. The Boston Center for the Arts is in this part of the town. So, if you are a ballerina, a theater artist, musician, and other form of performing artist, it is great to pay a visit and maybe perform there in the future? Who knows, right?

And yet, the Tremont Crossing will become the hub of the National Center for Afro-American Artists which is a great opportunity for the African American artists new and veteran, to showcase their talents. Also, it’s going to have a café in it, what a bonus!

 

Education

Education in Boston is as important as it is to the world. There are different schools and colleges along Tremont Street that is rich with history and produces professionals that is ready for the world, making it worthy to visit. There is Suffolk University Law School which was built in the early years to provide education to the racially discriminated and socio-economically challenged individuals. Another great school to include in our tour is the Oratory School which offers about 40 different degrees and professional education in arts of communication.

I bet people in this part of Boston is good in communication, professionally at that.

 

Leisure

After work and school, we all want to relax, don’t we? Along Tremont Street are parks and entertainment centers that can help its residents and visitors relax.

Next in the tour is the Boston Common, a public park which is the oldest city park in the United States that has a lot to offer. There’s the Boston Frog Pond, but there are no frogs in here! This pond is managed by the Skating Club of Boston and the City of Boston which is an ice-skating rink in the winter, a pool during spring and autumn, and finally a spray pool during the summer. It surely is a place that changes every season yet does not fail to give entertainment to the people, especially the children!

Yet, if you are not into ice-skating or splashing in the pool, there is also a softball field in the far corner of the Boston Common. There surely are a lot of things to do in this part of the street.

There’s definitely no good way to end an amazing tour. But now that you’ve discovered all these great spots, I bet you can all agree that Tremont Street is one of the places where it is all-in, where you will feel that you don’t need to leave because everything you need, from entertainment centers, shopping centers, churches, government offices, and a lot more is just near you. With all these big-time businesses built and arising especially Tremont Crossing, it is impossible not to fill your soul with adventures that can only be found in Boston, that can only be found along Tremont Street at that.
